Reborns Sci-Fi Sidearm, Triangular

commissioned by the Reborns project

A second sidearm for the same Reborns motion-capture project. The reference was a chunky Nerf-style prop used on set. The ask was to push it away from toy proportions and into something that reads as a real weapon from a far-off planet.

Most of the design work was on the front profile. Looking down the barrel had to suggest a triangular core, the kind of shape you would only see on a weapon engineered around an alien power source. The body kept some of the Nerf-honest curves because they read well in motion, but the muzzle, sight rail and grip got sharpened into something the actor could hold seriously.
