How much does a commission cost?

Commissions range from $25 for converting your existing art into a VTT token all the way to $900+ for an action scene illustration. Character bust portraits start at $60. Full-body character art from $120. NPC packs from $220 for five. Subscriptions from $75/month (Companion) or $150/month (GM tier), with a 6-month minimum commitment so the studio can plan a steady cadence. All prices are USD. Every quote is fixed up front. Why flat-rate instead of hourly?

Hourly billing punishes care. You shouldn't pay more because we polished for an extra two hours. Fixed scope, fixed price, every time.

How does payment work?

A 30% deposit holds your slot. It is refundable until the first sketch is sent. After the first sketch the deposit becomes non-refundable (it covers our sketch work). The remaining 70% is due on delivery. All payments through Stripe.

Do you offer bulk discounts?

Yes. NPC packs drop to $40 each at 10 NPCs vs $44 at 5. Token Pack (5) at $180 works out to $36 per token vs $40–60 individually. Item / Artifact 6-pack is $150 ($25 per item) vs $30 single. For volume above these tiers, see the commercial retainer.

Are all prices in USD?

Yes, USD only. International cards are billed at the current exchange rate by your card provider. We do not adjust pricing per region.

How long does a commission take?

Turnaround is quoted as a range per tier, framed as handcrafted and slot-limited. Character bust runs 5 to 10 days. Full-body character art runs 7 to 14 days. VTT tokens are 3 to 7 days. Party portraits are 14 to 21 days. NPC packs run 3 to 6 weeks depending on pack size. Maps and commercial work are quoted per brief.

What happens after I submit a brief?

Within 48 hours we review the brief and send back a fixed quote with a timeline. You approve, pay a 30% deposit, and we begin. Sketches typically land within a week.

Will I get updates during the painting?

Yes. Sketches, color blocks, and paint progress are shared every few days. You'll never wonder where things stand.

How many revisions are included?

Accepted Answer

Sketch revisions are unlimited. We get the foundation right before paint. Two paint-stage revisions are baked into every commission across every tier.

What if I'm not happy with the result?

In two years and 200+ commissions, this has happened twice. If the piece is genuinely off the brief, we refund the balance beyond the 30% deposit (which covers our sketch work). Read the full refund policy.

Do you use AI in any part of the process?

Accepted Answer

No. Every piece is hand-painted from scratch by a human artist. No AI generation, no auto-fills, no traced-over outputs. That's the entire point of the studio.

Can I use the art commercially?

Accepted Answer

Personal use (prints, social posts, your character sheet) is included with every commission. Commercial licensing for books, merch, paid streaming, indie game assets, and paid Patreons is +40% of the base job price (flat). One uplift covers the scope we agree on up front. See /commercial.

Can you post my commission on your portfolio?

By default, yes. This is how new clients find us. You can opt out at any point before delivery. Sensitive or NSFW commissions are never posted.

Who owns the original file?

You own the rendered piece and the rights described above. We retain the right to display it in our portfolio (unless you opt out) and the underlying brushes, references, and processes. See the full terms of service.

What is your refund policy?

Before first sketch: 100% refundable. After first sketch: deposit covers the sketch work. After paint begins: pro-rated by stage completed. Full refund policy.

Can I cancel mid-project?

Yes. We pro-rate based on stage. You keep what's been delivered (sketches, color blocks) and we settle the balance.

Can I cancel a subscription?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Email us before the 10th of the month and your next cycle will not bill. You can also pause a subscription if your campaign is on break, and we'll hold your style guide for 12 months.

What file formats do you deliver?

Most commissions ship with a 4K PNG, a 4K JPG, and a print-ready 300 DPI file. VTT tokens include 512px and 1024px transparent PNGs. Maps export to VTT-compatible PNGs at the right pixel-per-square count. Layered PSDs are included with Premium-tier character art and all commercial work.

What payment methods do you accept?

Credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, and ACH transfers through Stripe. We don't accept crypto or PayPal.
